A CHURCH WITH A VISION

During the nearly fifty years of existence of Westhighlands Church we have been fortunate to have only one Pastor: Dr. J. Samuel Rasnake.

Pastor Rasnake founded our church on July 26, 1958. At that time the congregation consisted of only four ladies. It was the faithfulness of these ladies that kept our pastor going during those first two years of trials.

By 1960 the church had grown to about 20 in Sunday School and was located on Raytheon Road.

The move to Volunteer Parkway came with the purchase of more than twelve acres in 1979. The first Cross, erected in 1980, was destroyed by a storm on March, 1996. However, after many obstacles, the new one hundred foot cross was dedicated in April 1997.

The Westhighlands Cross shines as a beacon to remind everyone that "The Cross Still Stands".
